Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 3/16/09

Lots of snow, lots of ice and a very warm pleasant weekend.

Anglers this past weekend were mostly concentrating on crappies, results are mixed. Some folks tried Kabetogama, while others preferred to try Namakan and Sandpoint where you can still keep walleyes and pike as well as fish crappies.

Fishing the border lakes is a good way to end the hard water season and cash in on some of the best winter fishing of the season.

Last week we received 17" of snow which is melting off fast, but snowmobilers are enjoying it to the max.

Thus far the lake surfaces are very rideable to get out fishing, some areas may be difficult if pulling a heavy sleigh.

Folks coming up fishing or snowmobiling may want to call your favorite source to see if live bait is available at or before your destination. Snowmobilers may want to hear how conditions are, and who is open before they finalize plans.

Happy Spring Everyone,

Phil and Ellen Hart
