Last two weeks aboard the Kingfisher

Been so busy fishing I haven't been able to get in my reports so here goes the last two weeks in review.

July 17 – Domingo Mateo and crew scored on a mess of bass from 36" to 45"

July 18 – Rene Wendell and crew came out in the morning for a limit of bass between 38" and 47" with a few hammer blues as well.

July 18 – Tom Spinella's group came in the afternoon for a trip that started slow but ended with a bang hooking up with three big stripers above 40". They were also treated to a dogfish show when a half a dozen followed up a hickory shad and began circling the boat.

July 19th – Justin Kjos and his dad had a tough time getting libe bait and a tougher time with the bass. First skunk on bass for the year. A high pressure system seemed to turn off the stripers even though a bluefish were everywhere.

July 20th – Things turned around drastically from the day before for the group from New England Wine Cellars. They were treated to a steady pick of bass from 36" to 47" and a bunch of blues in the 8 to 12 pound class.

July 20th – Night trip cancelled because of the tropical storm off Montauk.

July 21st – Jason Troiano came out again and scored big with 7 big bass from 38" to 47" and more hard fighting hammer blues.

July 21st – George Chase came out for his third trip and was rewarded with a bunch of blues and a bunch of bass. The bass came early in the trip and finished up fighting some blues. He asked if there was any way he could put his son on one more bass. Last drift of the night, Capt. Mark ablidged by putting him on a fat 45", 35 pound striper to grant his wish. Good going bro!

July 22nd – Tony Licata and crew limited out on bass from 34" to 44"

July 22nd – Things slowed down for the big bass on Jeff Gargano's trip but the had steady action on blues throughout the trip plus a bonus 34" bass.

July 23rd and 24th – Joe Pedronelli and crew came out the 23rd and Joe Monroe came out the 24th. One group did well on bass and blues and the other trip was slow. Did so many trips I can't remember which trip did what. If you anyone from the trip reads this shoot me an email and I will update your report.

July 25th – Allen from Colchester Toyota brought some friends out in the afternoon and had steady action on blues but only one bass.

July 27th – Things heated back up again when Harold Hart and friends battled with 8 stripers from 38" to 49" and a few big blues mixed in.

July 28th – Fished an hour with not a bite then had to postpone the trip due to a line of severe thunderstorms.

July 29th – Teddy Bonnell and his dad came out a second time after having a ball catching blues all day. This time they hit 5 bass from 36" to 45" in the first hour. The tide died and so did the fishing for the next 3 hours. The tide turned around and starting moving again and they managed another fat 39" fish plus steady action on some big hammer blues.

July 29th – Cheryl Rodriguez and crew came out in the afternoon and jigged up over 25 blues and a 34" bass they thought was huge. Which is a nice bass by anyones standards, just small for what we have been used to seeing.

Overall, the live bait has been a little difficult to get but well worth the effort. So far this year, customers have caught over 150 bass from 36" to 51" this year on live bait or fresh chunks. The bluefish have been around in very good numbers but the fluke fishing has been terrible this year. Plenty of action, but a 1 to 10 keeper ratio with the fluke.
