Lake Ray Roberts is 5 inches below normal level and low to mid 80"s water temperature. Largemouth bass fishing is good early around the shallow willows on topwaters and buzzbaits. We are starting to see some schooling of small bass in a few areas mornings. Soft plastics is still the best producer for me with Yum dinger 4" junebug color and Yum Houdini worm 4.75 inch in junebug or any green color working well. Rigging these split shotted, Texas rig, and shakey head are all working.

Sand bass fishing is very good this week with strong schooling action most mornings. Good keeper size fish are showing up more and more with the little ones. This action is only going to get better in the next few weeks. These schooling fish can be caught on any kind of small topwater you want to throw. We are catching the most keepers on Cotton Cordell 3/4 CC Spoons chrome with a Flies-By-Night fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. Some times jiggin it on the bottom under the schooling fish and sometimes casting it and bringing it back with a steady retrieve under the schooling action. Best areas to look are southwest of Wolf Island, around Cates Point and from the dam to the marina on the flats.

Have fun fishing,

Tim

Bio: Tim is a full time licensed professional fishing guide on Lake Ray Roberts. He has been fishing all his life and for the last 35 years has been a serious bass fisherman. Having fished Lake Ray Roberts exclusively, since it opened to motor boats in 1990, he knows the lake. Prior to fishing on Lake Ray Roberts, Tim lived in East Texas spending a lot of time on Lake Palestine, Lake Athens, Cedar Creek Lake, and Lake Tyler. Fishing for largemeouth bass in the warmer months, and white bass all year round, Tim has always had an obsession with deep water structure fishing. Having spent countless hours on Lake Ray Roberts studying maps and searching the depths with electronics, he knows the the main lake structure on Lake Ray Roberts like the back of his hand. Using triangulation, he is as comfortable fishing spots in the middle of the lake as most fishermen are fishing stumps in the back of a creek.
