Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Report

Lake Ray Roberts is about 6 inches below normal level and clear in most areas. Water temperature is 79 to 84 this week after the cool week of rain we had last week. Largemouth bass fishing is good and we are catching good numbers every trip. Fish are schooling in some areas and can be caught on topwaters and split shot Yum dingers in the areas they are schooling. Shakey head and carolina rigged worms will catch them also and Watermelon or junebug are the best colors to use on these rigs. Schooling fish can be small but there is plenty of slot fish in the same areas to be caught.

White bass fishing is very good now and the fish think it is October. We have had very little surface schooling this week after the cool down and the fish we are catching are in 32 to 42 feet deep on points, roads, ridges and dropoffs. Fishing mainly on the east arm of the lake from Isle du Bois State Park to Wolf Island we are catching all the sand bass on Cotton Cordell CC Spoons 3/4 oz. chrome with a Flies-By-Night fly tied 14 inches above the spoon. These fish want a vertical presentation of the bait and a lot of time the line just quits going down when you are hopping the spoon and a fish or 2 is on it. Quality is good and we are getting limits on most trips.

Have fun fishing,

Tim
