May has provided some awesome fishing nearshore and offshore. We have caught some nice amberjack in May even though the season will be closed June and July and reopen in August. Vermillion snapper have been much larger this year as I have seen large numbers landed. Triggerfish are biting but are mixed with large numbers of red snapper. I expect some very large red snapper to be landed during our short season of June and into July 17th. Red snapper are everywhere you go. King mackerel are beginning to show up nearshore and offshore. Orange Beach fishing will be red hot in June. Deep drop fishing is producing some golden tilefish, snowy grouper and yellowedge grouper. These fish are being caught in depths over 600 feet with power assisted reels. Everything is biting so wet a hook.
