For this trip we had Chuck and Tom entertaining some customers and wanted to introduce them to the exciting world of offshore fishing. We got away from the dock late the first afternoon and headed offshore to look for a Yellow-fin tuna. I know that we typically do not have much luck with them, this time of year on this side of the Gulf but they wanted to give it a shot. The giant black-fins were on fire and we did not keep one under 20 pounds. Most all of them were caught on light tackle. After catching a reasonable amount we shifted our focus to Yellow-fins but no luck. We then headed back up the line, towards the house and do some Wahoo fishing. Armand and the guys from Utah went 4 for 5 with the biggest being 65 pounds. We then stopped Wahoo trolling to let them have a chance with the Amberjacks and caught 4 in the 50 pound class. Then the weather started to get worse so, after 24 hours of near slick calm conditions it was time to head home. For some reason 20-25 knots on your stern sure does not seem to be near as bad with a full fish box!
