Capt Bobby Freeman and mate, Capt Freddie Willis carried a party snapper and grouper fishing October 12. Fishing up to 52 miles off of Beaufort Inlet, they caught 11 silver snapper, 20 vermillion snapper, 6 snowy grouper[each weighed 14-15pounds], one tile fish and 41 trigger fish. Using over 2 pound sinkers to get down in the deepest areas using wahoo belly strips and mullet minnows to entice the big grouper. Once the snapper and grouper were caught we moved into 160' of water to fish for triggerfish. These ran from 2-4 pounds each

The triggers were caught with 2/0 Mustad hooks using small pieces of squid wings and wahoo strips. Most any oily fish or squid will draw bites from the triggers. Triggers were biting so aggressively that they would often have the bait stripped before we hit the bottom. If you weren't seeing a bite within 15 seconds after hitting the bottom, you could be assured that they had robbed your hooks on the way down.
