Honolulu - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week i had the pleasure to fish with a couple of very interesting flyfisherman. Chip from Utah owns a snowboarding retail store and does some trout flyfishing guiding in the summer. We got off to a fast start and saw many nice bonefish cruising the deeper edges. Once the tide to started rising, fish started moving onto the flat but not nearing as good as i had hoped. With high surf, the tide filled in way too fast and the clouds socked us in basically ending any chances to to settle the score. Chip had a good attitude and was happy to get out and see fish. He'll get 'em next time!

On friday, i fished with Jim and Barney from Wyoming. We saw a few bonefish cruising the edges but not as many as with Chip. Clouds made things difficult. When tide started to rise we saw many tailers but again the tide came in fast and got very deep before we could stick one.

One thing i have noticed, it's really nice to have multiple days if you want to get one with flyrod. It takes a day to get in tune with the fish. As the first day progresses, anglers seem to do better, understanding what's needed to get the job done. Day two seems to be where most of the success comes. I also will move clients around to get the possible tides and weather conditions.

Honolulu Fishing Forecast:

The conditions will continue to improve as we get into summer. Winds will get lighter and sun will be more likely.
