Stripers- The Striper fishing is easy one day and you have to work for them the next. The Striper bite, when it is on, has been lasting throughout the day. Most of the fish that have been caught, from my boat, over the last two weeks have been on the Red fin, live bait or the 4 arm Mack Farr umbrella rig. The Red fin bite was much better last week when the surface temp was above 60. The last bit of cold weather has knocked the temp back down to the mid to upper 50s. I expect the Red fin bite to pick back up as the surface temp starts to climb. Wind blown, main lake, points and humps have been producing some nice fish. Blue Backs on flat lines and down lines are also producing in these same areas. The fish are scattered and not bunched up. After making 4 or five casts, move to the next point. Most of the fish that we have been catching are staged on points between 20 and 30 feet deep. The umbrella bite has been doing well this week. Clip main lake points and humps around 20feet deep. Once you have picked up a fish or two, move on to the next point. I have not found them stacked with this pattern. Another trick that merits note is to throw a Red fin out the back of the boat and troll it between the two u-rigs. Thanks for the tip Allen!

Bass-The Spotted Bass fishing has been very consistent the last couple of weeks. They can be caught in numerous ways. The most productive method for numbers has been fishing pockets, red clay banks with stumps and rock, natural rock banks and flats with stumps and rock. All of these areas can be fished with a variety of lures. The best producer on any given day has been a chartreuse grub on an 1/8th oz jig head! The Shad Rap in crawdad color has also been getting some attention. This pattern seems to get better as the day goes on. The big fish pattern has also been doing well. We have boated many Spots tipping the scales over four pounds this week. These fish are amazingly healthy! Fish main lake points and humps with Red fins, Saltwater Chug bug or the big Sammy. Follow up with a green pumpkin Trick worm on a 3/16oz Spot Sticker. A ½oz spinner bait is deadly on wind blown, main lake points and pockets.

Crappie-The Crappie bite is good but not near what it was two weeks ago. Fish brush, up the river, that has a 15-foot bottom and has at least 8 feet of water over the top. Concentrate on areas that are at the mouth of pockets and small feeder creeks. There are still some fish on blow downs out on the main river but they are no longer on every blow down that you come to. There are also some nice fish around docks on the upper end of the lake. Just like the blow downs, most of the docks that have fish have deep water out in front of it or at least close by. Shooting the marina docks will also produce a nice stringer of fish. Concentrate on the shallow water docks that are typically in the back and start at the beginning of the dock, near the walkway and work your way out until you find the fish.
