Hunting season is over and it's time to get back on the water. I spent the last few months hunting all over the country, including Alaska with my buddy Clark Dixon. We have been filming for a new show that we are part of called "The Syndicate" which will air on the Sportsman Channel this fall. We were able to take some incredible animals including a giant grizzly bear, wolf, caribou, and some giant rainbow trout. Alaska was the most incredible experience I have ever had. I was also lucky enough to take 3 whitetails over 140 with a bow and 1 over 160 with a gun. It was an incredible year and I will never forget it!

I made my first Charter fishing trip out to the Midnight Lump yesterday. We left out of Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle at 5:30am and we arrived at the Lump around 7:00. It is right at 42 miles from the marina to the Lump. We chummed most of the day. There were only a few times during the day the fish came up in our chum slick. 3 out of the 4 times we hooked yellow fin tuna, 1 weighing around 140 pounds. We fought the fish for over 2 hours. He fought like he weighed well over 200. We also got a few black fin and a couple of amberjack. I tried dropping down deep a few times and all we caught were red snapper and a giant shark. The big yellowfin tuna are at the lump right now. We headed back out of Bridge side marina again early Saturday morning. I pulled up to lump and we started chumming. Chad started drifting the lines and it was on. We caught fish on every drift. The midnight lump is an incredible fishery. At one time we had a yellowfin tuna, an amberjack, and a wahoo all on at once. Several drifts we hooked up 3 different fish at one time. I found the 60lb pink line worked best for a leader. We ended up with 5 yellowfin tuna, a bunch of blackfin tuna, a limit plus a few catch and release amber jack, wahoo, dorado, and a few others. It's great to be back on the water. Seems like the chances of catching a big fish are better during the week. There was a 237 pound yellow fin tuna brought back to the dock earlier this week that was caught at the lump. What an incredible fish! That was only a few pounds away from the state record. Call us today for Deep Sea Fishing Guided Charters in Grand Isle, Louisiana, I can still fish most of the areas that I used to fish out of Venice And, I can still have the option to fish the Green Canyon , which is an incredible fishery. Check me out at my website fishcommander.com/fishing-reports or give me a call today to book the trip of a lifetime! I also have lodging available right across from the beach. I am very passionate about the outdoors. I've spent my life hunting and fishing year round since I was a kid. Check out Trev Gowdy's Monster Fish's episode called "Monster Wahoo!" featuring Capt. Lance Walker out of Grand Isle, "Louisiana's Best Kept Secret".

Bio: Born and raised in Louisiana fishing has been our passion since we were kids.  I have fished all over the world, but nothing compares to the fishing in South Louisiana. I have fished the entire coast, but Port Fourchon is where I call home. You won't find a lot of fisherman around with all the oil company's in Port Fourchon, but less than 30 minutes away is Grand Isle, Louisiana.  The island has all the restaurants, lodging and entertainment you will need.  There are many thing to do in Grand Isle for the whole family, including surf fishing, pier fishing, a beach for the kids, and much more. We can run east to fish the beautiful rips that the Mississippi river forms for Mahi Mahi, Blue Marlin, and Wahoo, or travel to the ever so popular midnight lump just an hour and a half from the dock. The midnight lump is where 150lb. tuna are caught daily from mid December to late March.  By running South after passing through the Ship shoal area, you can find any species you want.  The green canyon are also one of our favorite spots being over 80 miles offshore and two to five thousand feet of water.  At some of the offshore platforms, you will find more tuna than you care to real in, with Bull Dolphin, Wahoo, and Marlin as a bonus.  Out there you will be in paradise all by yourself.  Now if a trophy Red Snapper, Lemon Fish, or Grouper is what you are after, I will probably take you west to the structures in the South Timbalier block.  No matter what direction we head, you have the chance to catch any species you desire. Just let us know what you are after and we should be able to find them.  Fishing season is excellent year around, but some species are really abundant at certain times while they are spawning. The only season that closes is Red Snapper from Septrmber 1 thru March 31.
