Started trolling 2 hours prior to high tide today. It would top out at 21 feet. There was an incredable amount of Herring/Needle fish in the water. At least 7 seals followed the boat at one time or another. Lots of diving birds and gulls were working the grounds. It didnt take long before the first strike which we missed. The Anchovi was shredded. I do not understand how these fish get away with two barbless treble hooks in its mouth.

Jackie set the hook on a honest 12lbr and landed it in short order. It took all of ten minutes to get the next one. The bite was on and I landed the second Winter Springer of the day. It was only 8lbs but I bonked it on the head for dinner. Thats it, no more bites for the next two hours. We packed it in at 14:00 and headed back to the boathouse ten minutes away. Great day.

My company specializes in catching large and aggressive Salmon and Halibut. These are not our only targets though. I love seeking out Ling cod, Snapper and Rock fish where they live. These fish are not safe when I am on the water. It is not uncommon to have all my fish coolers filled to the top by the end of the day. I call this food gathering.
