Our charter fishing trips out of Carolina and Wrightsville Beach have been doing great. We continue to catch lots of Spanish off of the beach as well as sharks and even had a little mahi hit a clark spoon. The near shore shark action continues to be great with many sharks weighing in excess of 50lbs.

8/7 and 8/8 --- I had John and some of his clients aboard for some redfish action on fly and light spinning tackle. We had a few hooked up that spit the hook, got 2 to the boat, and tackled a few flounder as well. We had a great time and saw probably the most tailing reds that I have seen here so far. The fish are feeding heavily in the hot water and there are lots of fish well over the slot mixed in.

8/9 ---Today Mark and I hit the flats in search of the larger reds I saw the day before. It's funny..I have been fishing 24 days STRAIGHT and on my day off I go fishing! The reds really made today worth it. We had perfect conditions and boated 6 reds, a few flounder, a speck trout and a black drum. All of the fish came off the flats and were caught in 93.7 degree water. Two of the reds were over the slot and I stuck a DMF tag in both of them. What a awesome day, two tagged fish and a inshore slam! The second bay of Buzzards Bay is on fire right were the old inlet (creek) dumps out. Most of our fish came from this location. Berkley Gulp continues to impress me and the white shrimp or jerk baits are the best producers.

Bio: Like many of us I have my father to thank for my love of fishing. I have been fishing since I can remember. Whether it was going out in his offshore boat looking for kings, fishing for flounder at the end of the street, or bass fishing in the middle of the winter at 5 a.m. with snow on the ground...we did it all. As I got older I took fishing very seriously and acquired numerous techniques to put the fish in the boat. I have both a fresh and saltwater background and have incorporated those techniques and tactics into my fishing arsenal which has become polished over the years and has proved to be very effective. As a Wilmington native, I have been fishing in the Cape Fear region for over 20 years.
