The halibut fishing has been good, as expected for late June and early July. Hotspots are Big Bank, Lighthouse bank and South Bank. Things slowed down a couple days over the full moon but has gotten better again. The next week should be good fishing as the tides have slowed down which always helps.

The Coho have shown up on big numbers on South Bank which is great since we haven’t seen them there much over the past few years—so lets hope they stay there.

The Chinook fishing has been spotty. Some days have been hot but there have been quite a few days where we have had to really work for the fish. The nice thing is that many of the slow days produced some good-sized fish. We are hoping things really pick up this next week.

Tight lines,

Sam Vandervalk
