Bass fishing is poor With the lack of rain and high water tempature, the result is very low oxygen levels in the lake which makes the Bass very lazy. The best patterns right now are deep river channel ledges in the main lake that have 10 feet of water or more on top. Use Large crankbaits like a DD22 or a DD14. Creature baits like the Zoom Brush Hog in june bug fished on a carolina rig is producing some fish. The upper part of the Chattooga River is holding alot of Spotted Bass with a few Largemouths. The Shad have moved to the Chattooga River in huge schools for the cooler water with more oxygen. The best baits are shallow to medium running crankbaits in chartreuse or a shad pattern. Spinner baits are also producing fair in the Chattooga River. A 3/8 ounce Oldham spinner bait in chartreuse and white or solid white with double willow blades in chrome and gold is my bait of choice.

The new Gizz 4 crank bait from Smack Tackle www.smacktackle.com is the best shad imatation crank bait I have ever used ! This a new bait and I caught fish on them the first time I used them,Spotted Bass and Stripers love them!

Crappie fishing is fair. Most fish have suspended in the main river channels some fish are still under deeper docks but expect to catch alot of short fish for every 10 inch keeper. The best catches are coming at night under lights with minnows. Fish the dropoff of the river channel and look for any structure on the drop, target the 12-16 feet range in the Little river and Chattooga river area. Use a quality All Pro spinning rod in 5 or 6 foot length with a medium action .

Striper fishing is fair and the stripers are in the Cave Hole in Little river, Alot of fish are moving back into the Chattooga river and Little Spring creek looking for cooler moving water with more oxygen, night fishing has started to pick up with some good catches from 11:00 pm - 4:00 am. With the low oxygen levels expect the best fishing very early am and late pm. Fish the upper Chattooga river and Little river and Little Spring creek. Use live shad on a down line 8 to 10 feet deep and flat lines are producing well. Look for the schools of stripers on your fish finder and adjust your bait depth to get it a foot or so above them.

The new GIZZ 4 crank bait is the most realistic shad imatation bait I have ever used, Stripers love them and so will you ! www.smacktackle.com

Catfish are biting great. The catfish are biting all over the lake and they are being caught by jug fishermen and people fishing off of docks are really catching alot of fish on Chicken livers and night crawlers, use cut shad or live bream for the bigger fish and fish the main coosa river below the big bridge in Cedar Bluff.
