We fished the Prince Rupert Harbour two days in a row last week, having great success both days. Our first day we hooked 4 Chinook salmon in a two hour span, landing two, and playing the other two for a few minutes each before they spit the hooks. Winter Chinook fight very hard, and our fish of the day, 18 pounds, was a scrappy fish. The next day we fished the same span of time, but only had two strikes, and managed to land another 18 pound beauty. A friend in another boat also had some great success the next day landing a 24 pounder, and releasing 3 smaller fish. There were huge bait balls of immature herring showing up on the sounder, and all indications are a great season of these resident Winter Chinook at our door step in Prince Rupert.
