Recently we saw a report out of Sebastian where a fishing team caught 35 dolphin, also known as Dorado and Mahi-Mahi, along with 6 wahoo. All the fish had some great size to them, including a beautiful 60 pound bull dolphin. The captain and crew stated to have solid action all day and left the fish biting. Here are some of the pictures of the credible catch:
Is this a sign of things to come or is this area just not fished enough to draw any conclusions? In our opinion, the dolphin fishing this year has really picked up. There have been several big fish reported by the weekend warriors along with the captains all along the east coast.
We look for a good summer of better sized schoolies than we have seen in the past years. Hopefully most can practice good conservation in order to help preserve this fishery, however since dolphin are commercially caught worldwide, the recreational sector can only do so much.
