March 1

Ok February is behind us and here we go jumping right into March and looking forward to a great Spring season of deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida.

We started out the month fishing with Jim from New York who was lucky enough to catch a sail fish with us yesterday, Ralph from Canada and Tom from Pa.

We started out trolling the reef with 2-planner board running about 45 feet deep along with 3 baits skipping across the surface.

Trolling was good today with everyone catching king fish.

We ended the trip setting out our 2 kites with 4 live baits suspended from the kites along with one shark bait down 130 feet on the bottom.

It wasn't long before our shark rod bent over and line started peeling off the reel.

Jim jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It was a good 20 min and till @ last up popped a 100 to 125 pound sand bar shark.

Jim you sure are the lucky one catching a couple of big game fish back to back aboard the Hooked up.

Thanks again guys what a great way to start off March off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

WHAT A BANNER DAY OF FISHING ABOARD HOOPKED UP

Today we started out with Jim, Eric, Gordon, Jonny and Joe all from Up State New York.

We picked up some live bait and headed right out to 150 feet of water set out both kites with 4 baits suspended from each kite. Wait a min let me back up we tried to set out our kites but as we were trying to set them out BAM we got our first bite and out came this dolphin fish dancing all over the surface. Gordon grabbed the rod and before we knew it the skunk was out of the box with one nice dolphin resting comfortably in our fish box.

Ok back to getting the kite and baits set but wait here comes another dolphin and again we were Hooked Up. Jonny jumped at the rod and again another dolphin in the box.

Ok back to trying to get the baits all out there. Ok we finally got all the baits in place and the trap was set BUT not for long here comes this big sail fish all over our right long kite bait and before we knew it we were Hooked Up again only this time we had a monster sail fish jumping all over the place.

Jim jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After a good 20 min of back and forth Jim finally got his sail next to the boat.

We got a few pictures of him and watched him swim away in good shape.

After some high fiving and hand shaking we got the baits back out there but it wasn't long before another hit and BAM we were Hooked Up again. This one turned out to be a bonito.

Once again the baits went right back out there and again BAM another sail fish dancing all over the surface of the waves putting on this great show for us.

I've got to get to the total catch or this will turn into writing a book. (LOL)

We ended up wit 3 sailfish 2 king fish, 4 bonitos and a few dolphin fish.

And bare in mind this was all before noon we still have another trip to go today.

As we got back to the dock we had Nick and Tim from Conn and their good friend Mike from New York.

Well it worked this morning so we went right back to kite fishing and sure enough the fish were still there.

As soon as we got our baits all set in the kites the fish started biting.

We ended up catching4 bonitos, 3 dolphin fish, 2 nice king fish and 2 more sailfish.

Holly cow what a great day of deep sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.

Guys I want to thank all of our anglers today and Mike, Tim and Nick we are looking so forward to fishing with you guys again tomorrow.
