November is finally here and right on time the sail fish are starting to show up.

Today we started out fishing with Brenan, Kurt, Carl and Rob from Pittsburg Pa.

On our way out we stopped at the live bait boat picked up a bucket of goggle eyes (live bait) and headed out to 180 feet of water. We set out both our kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite. Ok the trap was set now all we needed was for some big hungry fish to come along and eat one.

It took a bit of waiting but then all of a sudden there was a big swirl by one of our baits and line started creeping off the reel. We locked up the reel the rod bent over and out came a nice dolphin fish jumping all over the place. Kurt jumped in the chair and before we knew it we had the skunk out of the box and a dolphin in the box.

We got the baits all set back in place and once again the wait was on. Than all at once all hell broke loose when this big sail fish came up and took off with our right long kite bait. This time Brennan jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It was a back and forth tug a war for a good 15 min till finally Brennan got his first ever sail fish to the boat. J.J. got the fish in the boat for a quick measurement to have a replica trophy made of Brennan's catch and we watched him swim away in good shape to fight again another day.

Guys sorry to say that we did not have our camera aboard so if you guys send us some of the photos we would be happy to post them.

Today we had 4 guys from Quebec Canada come down to spend a few hours fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. We had Sylvain, Helene, Gaetan and Micheline.

Once again we went to the live bait boat picked up some live bait and went right to kite fishing. Today the conditionings looked just about as good as they could have. We had clean blue water and a good north current. Once all the baits were set it seemed to only took a few min till our first strike and it turned out to be a big jack carvel. While it is not a good eating fish I've got to say that pound for pound they are one of the toughest fish around.

From that point on things just kept getting better and better for us. Our next bite turned out to be a nice dolphin fish and soon thereafter we had three bites at the same time and they all turned out to be sail fish.

We ended up catching 2 out of the three sail fish at the same time. Talk about an exciting fishing trip!!

Guys thanks again for a great fun time on the water.

Ok today we had our old customers Jack and Hassel from Amsterdam and today they brought along their good friend John witch happen to own a hotel right on the beach off the coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida. Just quick back round on our relationship Jack has been fishing with me on all the boats I have fished on for over 20 years now and he has been staying at the Tropic Sea Resort for over 30 years now.

I guess you can say Jack from Amsterdam has found a second home here in South Florida.

I asked Jack why he always stays at the same hotel and he said that they make him and his wife Katherine feel like family and they are located off the main husel and busel of the night life yet close enough to when they want to get out into the night life it is just min away.

If you are thinking about spending a bit of time down here in Sunny South Florida I would strongly suggest checking them out at www.Tropicseasresort.com .

Also about Jack and Hassel they have fished all over the world from Africa for big black marlin to Canada for salmon but they seem to always come back here aboard the Hooked Up to give me a hard time and to drink a LOT of beer and for some good eating fish so they can have big fish fries at the hotel and they seem to always make a big party out of it.

So having said all that; good eating fish was what we were looking for.

We headed way off shore in search of some good eating dolphin fish. After hours of trolling we never did find any dolphin however we did manage to catch a hand full of black fin tunas with make for some great Sushi.

(The best way to cook this up is cover the fillet with sesame seeds and just sear for just a few seconds on each side just enough to get the seeds brown then put the fish back in the fridge for about 15 min. Pull it out slice thin pieces off and dip in some soy sauce then insert this into your mouth and WOW talk about a flavor explosion. Finish it off with some ice cold beer and now we're talking!!)

Ok back to our fishing trip. No dolphin fish to be found off shore so we came in on the reef and flew our kites looking for just about anything we could get to bite. Once again no bites. (RATS)

Ok plan C. We started we started trolling fast zig zaging between 100 feet of water out to 400 feet of water with 2 planners running about 45 to 50 feet down. At last we found good eating fish we ended up catching a couple of nice Wahoo's.

Jack, John and Hassel thanks again for giving me such a hard time all day today but I wouldn't have it any other way. (LOL)

Today we headed out fishing with John, Bruce, Jeremy and George all from South Florida.

We started out trolling with 2 planners running deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface. We trolled down to the south about 3 miles without getting a bite. So than we trolled back toward the north out in deeper water a caught a few little black fin tunas which we threw back.

Ok now we found our self's about 3 miles north of our inlet and not any fish in the box to show for it. It was time for a change.

We brought in all the trolling gear and set out our kites with live baits suspended from them.

Once we got our baits all in place things started to take a turn for the better. We hooked into a nice dolphin and before we knew it we had dolphin jumping on all of the baits at the same time. We ended up putting a couple of real nice dolphin in the box along with a couple king fish.

While we were not setting the world on fire we were catching fish and some good eating fish to boot.

All of a sudden I seen a blue streak good threw the water heading right for our right long kite bait. It only took about 2 seconds to realize we were Hooked Up with a monster sail fish. John jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This fish took out so much line that we had to start backing down on him before we ran out of line. It took John a good 30 to 35 min till we finally got his monster sail to the side of the boat. We got a few pictures of his sail swimming next to the boat and set hi m free to fight again another day.

Guys thanks again for a fun day of fishing.
