Kabetogama/Namakan Fishing Report 1/2/07

Mixed bag of weather has hampered anglers the

last couple of weeks, making traveling on ice difficult.

Kabetogama has been staked for snowmobile traffic, making it easier to drag houses to angling areas.

Pike fisherman and spearing enthusiasts have been doing well in shallow bays, using live bait and decoy suckers.

Anglers searching for walleyes are having mixed success. The best bet seems to be a small jig, tipped with a minnow at 30-40'.

The depth span seems to relate to time of day so be prepared to move around.

Crappie action still very slow with limited success.

Happy New Year to all and lets pray for cold, snow and good ice.
