Ice fishing came to a sudden halt as a result of the back to back snowfalls. Insurmountable slush clogged the lake trails impeding the close of the pike and walleye season on border lakes.

Ice thickness to date will easily accommodate sled travel for crappie enthusiasts as the slush liquefies as the temperatures increase.

Tube jigs, ratsos and small jig head tipped with a minnow or minnow head remains the favored presentation.

Here's hoping spring drops in and pays us a visit as we gear up for the May Opener.

Happy Spring,

Phil and Ellen Hart
