Sharks are here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale come fishing get Hooked Up

December 27th, 2011

Today we fished with Austin, Jenifer, Len, Taylor and Justin from George Town Kentucky.

We started out trolling the reef with our planner boards down about 45 feet and 3 baits skipping on the surface but as it turned out trolling the reef was slow today with us only catching 1 kingfish.

Ok time for plane B. So in came the trolling gear and out went the kites with live baits suspended from them.

While we were thinking we might get lucky and catch a sailfish we never expected a shark to pop up in 120 feet of water.

But that was just what happen and just like that we were Hooked Up.

While it was not a monster hammerhead it was one hell of a back and forth fight on 20-pound test.

After a good 20 min fight we had this 5-foot hammerhead to the boat.

Once again we would like to thank Len and his family for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up and Len if you could send us a couple of the pictures we would be glad to post them .

Kingfish, Tunas, Bonitos and big Hammer head Shark aboard Hooked Up

December 26th, 2011

Today we started out our day fishing with Ron and Ron down from Minnesota. We went right to trolling the reef with 2-planner board running about 45 feet deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface.Today it was the deep lines that produced the fish with both Ron's catching 2 black fin tunas, 2 kingfish and 2 bonitos. As we got back to the dock we had Jim and his 2 sons James and Max eager to give their luck a shot at some deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.Once again we started out trolling the reef and catching a couple of kingfish.Ok the skunk was out of the box and now it was time to try for the BIG one.We set out our kites with 3 live baits suspended from them along with a couple of shark baits set down deep.Trap Set!! Now we wait. Than all of a sudden BAM one of the shark rods bent over line started peeling off and Max jumped in the chair. The fight was on!!It started out to be a slow back and forth tug a war but Max hung in there and soon started gaining more and more line. Finally up popped this 7-foot hammerhead shark. WAY TO GO MAX!!!The only bad new was we did not have our camera aboard so Jim we counting on you to send a few photos. Thanks again to all of our anglers today for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Fishing with Ryan, Ryan and Jeff from Saskatchewan Saskatoon Canada aboard Hooked Up

December 24th, 2011

Today we had a few guys from Saskatchewan Saskatoon Canada (Try to say that 3 times in a row) Ryan, Ryan and Jeff.

We started out our trip trolling the reef with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface.

We ended up boating 4 kingfish.

Ok skunk out of the box and now it was time to try for a big sea monster.

So in came the trolling gear and out went the kites with 2 live baits suspended from the kites along with shark bait also suspended from the kites. We also set a shark bait down 350 feet to the bottom.

Ok the trap was set and now all we needed was for some big fish to come along and take a bite.

Sure enough BAM the deep rod bent over line started peeling off the reel and we were Hooked Up.

Ryan jumped in the chair and the fight was on. After 10 min Ryan gave one of the other guys a shot at fighting this sea monster. So it turned out to be a tag team working on this big fish with there back and forth tug a war. After 25 min up popped this big 7 to 8 foot golden hammerhead shark.

(WOW). Nice going guys.

Ryan, Ryan and Jeff thanks so much for fishing with us aboard the hooked up and Ryan be carful snow boarding with all those avalanches around.
