King & Coho Salmon continue to school in front of area tributaries and are providing great catches to the anglers that are willing to put in some time and effort. The winds continue to pound away on us. What a beating we have all taken this summer. I am winding down on the lake in week or so and will be switiching to the river and the night bite at the mouth of the salmon river. There are a lot of fish from Oswego to Henderson.

In front of the salmon river, kings are being caught in 40 to 100 feet of water. J-Plugs, spoons, flashers and fliesin glow green, glow blue, white and chrome are catching most of the fish. Get out there early for the best bite.

Out of Oswego, salmon are hittinga variety of baits ... flies, spoons and j-plugs. E-Chip & Spin Doctor attractors with the hammer Atomik fly have been taking a lot of fish.

We have all been talking about the size and condition of our chinooks. They are some of the nicest fish we have seen in years. Perhaps having a few less fish translates to bigger fish. Although I am not yet convinced there are less fish. With the condtions that we have been subjected to and what I see on certain days, there are plenty to go around.

There are already some kings in the Salmon River and more on on the way. Don't be afraid to do some scouting before the crowds get here later this month.

On Oneida Lake, smallmouth bass have been active particularly near Shackelton Shoals. Look for walleye in 40 ft. of water using jr. thundersticks in silver/blue and the perch series. We have also had reports of some yellow perch activity in 12 ft. of water in front of well-defined weed beds using fathead minnows.

The Lake Ontario Flu has infected a record amount of people this season as strong winds make for weak stomachs.

NOTE: I want to be honest here and let you know that between the catches of 6 to 12 fish a trip there are many real tough ones that we catch one or two or none. We don't kill them everyday.

Weather, weather, weather is the key. When the winds blow the roof off your house, you aren't going to the frig to grab a sandwich, fish are no different. To the groups that struggled hard, I apologize again and trust that you will give it another try and hopefully the wind gods will treat you better.

Here is what I have left

September 11 AM, 16PM, 17AM October 7 November 21, 26, 29, 30.

See you out there. Stay safe, Troy
