What a wild week! We fished with the Della Monica gang on March 29th and 30th. Surface action was slow, so Joe ask us to try the bottom fishing. He sure called that shot. In 3 hours Saturday afternoon and 3 hours Sunday morning we caught 13 red snappers averaging 10 pounds. The biggest was 16.5 pounds.

Then a week we will never forget. Monday morning we were supposed to fish with the Della Monicas again. I received a call from my good friend Matt Tambor at 5 AM. He said a couple kids were trapped on a burning boat and he needed my boat to get them off. What an understatement.

Matt Tambor and Eloy Dominquez took my boat, two firemen and a police officer into a raging fire and rescued two young adults who were trapped inside a burning yacht. They worked for 20 minutes to get those kids out with flames roaring overhead. It is a huge honor to be friends with true heros.

Of course our fishing was cancelled for the morning with the marina closed for the fire investigation.

Austin also caught a 90 inch sail

That evening Brooke and Joe fished with us and had a super evening. They caught 7 tarpon, 4 bluefish and a pompano on live shrimp at Government Cut.

The following day they caught a sailfish, a blackfin tuna, a cuda, bonito and 20 dolphin. The next day they caught 6 dolphin, a big jack, a bluefish and one last tarpon before heading home.

April 4th through the 6th we fished the Yamaha, Contender Miami Billfish Tour. with Steve and his daughter Amanda Nichols. Amanda showed her abilities to the max. She took home trophies for; Top Angler, Top Lady Angler, Top Small Boat Angler, Top Tuna, Top Fun Fish by a Lady and with one fish by Steve they won Top Family. We were 5th boat overall and Top Outboard Boat.

Austin caught a 75 pound tarpon

On Monday evening and Tuesday morning we fished with the Koser family from Millville Pa. 15 year old Austin has been pretty sick over the last two years, but he was showing off this week. He caught, tagged and released a 75 pound tarpon and a 90 inch sailfish. His grandpa caught a 10 pound black grouper, his mom caught a 65 pound tarpon, his sister caught a mutton snapper, they all caught assorted bait fish, enjoyed running around the flat calm ocean and ate grandpa's grouper for lunch at Montys.

That evening the Orvieto party caught 2 nice tarpon at the cut.

Don and Sandy Blake fished with us on Wednesday and caught 7 sailfish, 10 dolphin to 17 pounds, a 27 pound blackfin tuna, a bonito and a bluefish.

Don and Sandy caught dinner
