Wow! What a weekend. Started off with the typical single digit AM temperatures, but once the sun got up in the sky it was gorgeous out there. We didn't want to quit it was so nice. It seems like every week just gets busier and busier. For the record, you will not be seeing any signs of a recession here in Fish City. The parking lots are full and the shops and lodges are very busy.

We worked for a few fish each day as every spot had people or a boat in it. Many said fishing was slow, but think about it. If I fish ten spots and catch a fish in each one that is a great day. But if I only get to fish a few spots and they have already been pounded we are going to catch less fish. There was the same numbers of fish caught this weekend as any other, but the pie was split into many more slices.

Same baits same high water spots. White egg sacs, pink worms and beads are taking a lot of fish. Bottom bouncing or bobber fishing your choice. A few boats are hitting fish on plugs as well. Copper or gold #30 Luhr Jensen Hot Shots and J9 Rapalas in orange and perch are all working well.

Look for the creeks to be filled with fish as well. You may have to do some hiking, but it will be worth it.

The Oswgo river is dropping fast and the fishing there is on fire. Experienced anglers have reported a mixed bag of both dark and fresh fish steelhead as well as spawned out and fresh lake run brown trout. Concentrate your time near the dam, lock 7 or in the harbor. White bucktail jigs worms and eggs are the top baits there.

There is still good ice on the pond and many of the bays but use extreme caution and don't take any chances. It is just a fish. The perch bite has been good with small bait such as minnows working well. Remember that the pike season is closed.
