Anglers fishing with me on my flats skiff the Snook Fin-Addict, out of CB's Saltwater Outfitters on Siesta Key, caught and released trout, Spanish mackerel, bluefish and tarpon during the past couple of weeks. After warming up quickly, more than 10 degrees in a week or so, bay fishing slowed. However, tarpon showed up in force along our beaches.

The best action was with big trout on the flats and snook at night.

I feature saltwater, bay, and coastal light tackle fishing. My boat is a 22'10”, 8' beam, 8” draft, Panga Marquesas. The boat is designed for shallow or deep water and has permanent flotation and trim tabs. It is equipped with a T-Top, Live-well, large coolers, GPS, Fish-finder, VHF marine radio, and cell phone. I have over 25 years in the Sarasota area as a full time, USCG licensed fishing guide with a lifetime of fishing experience in Florida.

The best action continues to be on deep grass flats along the east side of Sarasota Bay from Stephens Point to Long Bar.

A couple of trips in lower Tampa Bay also had action with trout, snook and reds. Deep grass flats of Sarasota Bay have been the best option for variety and action.
