Today we got a last second fishing trip with Samantha, Todd, Breezy and Chase all from Elk River Minn.

We went right out to 350 feet of water and set out both kites with three live baits and one dead shark bait suspended from the kites. We also set a shark bait down about 150 and another shark bait on the bottom.

Once we got all the baits set a nice dolphin fish came in on our left long kite bait and we were Hooked Up. It took about 10 min to finally get him in the boat. J.J. got the baits set right back out there and BAM our bottom bait got hit and the rod bent in half and line started screaming off the reel. Ok so now we were Hooked Up with some kind of a sea monster. We fought him for a good 5 min and all of a sudden the line went slack and he got away. (RATS)

Wish we had more to report about this trip but the seas got choppy and we got the word to go ahead and call it a day.

Guys thanks again and next time we'll catch you that sea monster.

Today we started out fishing with Steve and Jim and their kids Max 12 years old, Chad 14, Tom 14 and last but not least Andy 10.

We started out trolling the reef but not much was going on there so we headed out to deeper water and that's where we finally started catching fish.

Max caught a nice dolphin fish than Chad caught a black fin tuna. Than before we knew it the little guy Andy was reeling in a tuna.

Ok time to try for a sea monster so we set out our 2 kites with 3 live baits and one dead shark bait all suspended from the kites. We also set out bottom bait and another one half way down for sharks.

Once we got all the baits set we noticed this big wake heading straight for our shark bait that was suspended from the kite. All of a sudden we seen this huge dorsal fin come up and out of the water and crashed like a bomb on the shark bait and we were Hooked Up with a MONSTER SHARK. Tom jumped in the chair and he was in for the fight of his life. I've got to say that for a 14 year old kid he was putting it to this sea monster. After over an hour of back and forth tug a war Tom finally got this big hammer head shark close enough to the boat for J.J. to get a head rope around him and we slid him into the boat for a couple of quick photos and a measurement to have a replica trophy made of his catch.

Tom you did a great job and to the rest of the gang thanks sooooo much for a great morning on the water deep sea fishing.

Ok so we had one hell of a catch this morning but now we somehow had to try to top this morning for our afternoon charter. (Not an easy task)

This afternoon we had Rob and his son Michael and their good friend Josh all from In.

This time we went right to kite fishing and as it turned out we made the right choice. Josh ended up catching a couple of dolphin fish and Michael and Rod ended up with a big sail fish and a dolphin fish.

Thanks again to all of our anglers today and if any of you guys have any photos of today I would love to post them for you.

Today we had Yuri, Steve, Mark, Rory and rocket Man all from Reading Pa out for a morning of deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

We knew that there had been some nice king fish being caught right on the reef so we set out our 2 kites in 105 feet of water with 4 goggle eyes suspended from them with light wire leaders.

We were hoping that we might get lucky and maybe see a sail or two but we decided on the wire leaders just in case any of these kings showed up.

As it turned out we made the right choice we ended up catching a 10 pound king a 20 pounder a 30 pounder and yes a 40 pounder. Talk about some nice king fish. Finally the smoker kings have shown up.

As we pulled back to the dock we had Tim and his son 8 year old T.J, Patti, Allison and Frankie all waiting and eager to try their luck at some deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

We figured since we had done so well on the kings this morning we'd go right back to the same spot a set our live baits again and see just what we would end up with.

We did get quite a few king bites but they just kept sky rocketing our baits and just biting the tails off and killing our baits. We never did get a hook into any kings this afternoon however little T.J hooked into a nice dolphin fish and got dinner in the box and Tim got hooked into a big sail fish which took a good 20 min till we finally got him to the boat.

Thanks again to all our anglers today.

Today we had a world class swimmer Katherine and her mom Connie and her dad Jeff from Rockford IL out for a short 4 hour fishing trip aboard the Hooked Up. We decided to pick up some live baits from the bait boat and we went right out to kite fishing in search of sail fish.

It took about 45 min till we got our first bite but when we seen this big beautiful sailfish come out of the water and just putting on the show for us we knew it was well worth the wait. Katherine jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It was a back and forth tug a war for well over 20 min but at last Katherine got her sail fish to the side of the boat. We took a couple of quick pictures and watched him swim away in great shape.

J.J. wasted no time getting all the baits set right back out there and this time the wait was not quite as long till BAM another big sail fish popped up and now Jeff was Hooked Up.

It took Jeff about 15 to 20 min till he had his first sail fish to the sided of the boat.

Guys thanks again for a fun morning on the water and Katherine good luck with the swimming.

Today we had a group from American Title INS Company out for a few hours of deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up. We had Armando from Playa Del Carmen, LeAnn from Plantation Florida, and Toney from Santiago John the (chummer) from New York. Eduardo from Cancun and Mauricio from Sunrise Florida.

We started out by setting out both kites with 3 live baits suspended from them and one big shark bait also suspended from the kite.

Things started out pretty slow for us and we hadn't had a bite in an hour I was starting to wonder what other fishing options we had. Then I noticed that John was doing his part by chumming the waters for us. That's when I knew we were going to get the bite.

All of a sudden one of our BIG shark rods bent over and we were Hooked Up with some kind of a sea monster. I can't recall who got into the fighting chair first but I knew we were not going anywhere for a while. As it turned out this fish was so big that everyone had to give it a go at least twice in the chair each. Finally we got a good look at the MONSTER HAMMER HEAD SHARK. Holly cow this was a good 300 to 350 pounder a good 9 feet long.

We only caught one fish on this fishing trip by at least I can say that everyone caught a fish (LOL).

LeAnn and the rest of the gang thanks so much for a fun morning on the water.

As we pulled back to the dock we had Dave, Keeve, Scott and George from PA all eager to try their luck at a bit of deep sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

It worked this morning so we figured we go right back to kite fishing and see if we could pull it off again?

We set out our kites with live bait suspended from them and sure enough we caught a couple of bonitos and a couple of king fish. Then all of a sudden the bite we were waiting for a big sail fish. Keeve jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It took a good 20 min to finally got his first sail fish to the side of the boat.

Thanks again to all of our anglers today.

April 11

Today Captain Greg and J.J got to the boat and got ready for their fishing trip with Farris from West Palm Beach and Susan, Zeyna, Yaggeena and Fams all from Chicago IL.

I was working on our other boat the Local knowledge but I'll get to that later in the story.

They went right out to 350 feet of water and set out both kites with live and dead baits suspended from them along with one shark bait down about 150 feet and a last shark bait down on the bottom .

Once they got all the baits set they started their wait but this time their wait didn't take long before they seen this monster dorsal fin racing threw the water and headed right for thier shark bait that was suspended from the kite. All of a sudden this shark exploded on the bait and BAM they were Hooked Up. Farris jumped in the chair and the fight was on.

It was pretty rough today and with the seas being what they were and this sea monster was not coming to the boat easy so it continued to be a back and forth tug a war.

As it turned out at the same time that all of this was going on I was working as the mate on the local knowledge and my buddy Captain Scott was running the boat. We had one guy onboard with us Erik from Wisconsin and we had been fighting a monster shark ourselves only we had ours on a much smaller rod.

It was about 10:00 am when we had Hooked Up and it was now getting close to 11:00 am and I had heard the Farris had caught his shark and that they were on their way back to the dock.

That was not the case with us. We had been spooled to the backing on the reel 3 times already and this sea monster we had on showed no signs of letting up.

Finally after a good 3 hours of fighting this fish Erik was starting to gain some line back. We had been pulled over 5 miles off shore trying to catch this fish and I've got to say that everyone was beat Erik, Scott me and the shark. Finally I was able to get hold of the leader and we finally slid him thru the door for a few photos and a measurement (109 inches) to have a replica well earned trophy made of Erik's catch.

Today was a tough yet very exciting day on the water down here in Sunny South Florida so I would like to thank all of our anglers today and we are looking forward to fishing you guys again soon.
