In the morning we drop shotted finesse style around the 6-8m water depth area with little black/green Lunker City Hellgies and got nice Bass every time we went over a bruch pile. As the wind picked up it got very difficult to keep the boat in position and we moved into sheltered bays.

With the water levels starting to rise at Inanda Dam the water is now reaching the grass areas and we threw weightless Strike King Z-Toos as a top water lure deep into the grass right onto the bank, on the first throw we we into a fish and it carried on like this for the rest of the day with Bass after Bass after Bass. My clients were totally thrilled and we had a Bass count of over 40 for the day with 2 fish around 2.5kg (6.5lb) 5 fish around 2.0kg (4.5lb)10 fish around 1.5kg (3.5lb)and all the rest were over 1.0Kg (2.2lb).

I love a topwater bite and when we first started it was literally like throwing the lure direcly into the Bass's mouth, as soon as the lure hit the water we were in. Later on the bigger fish followed the lures away from the grass and took the lure about 3.0m from the grass, this were all agresive takes with all the exciting splashing associated with a real top water bite.

Get down to Inanda Dam and get yourself some good fishing in, or call us and make a booking.
