We were out today and I saw something that made my heart jump out of my throat. While the bay was calm, the Ocean was in termoil with 6-7' seas. Hugh breakers were rolling at Ambrose channel, and Monster breakers were coming over the false hook.

Our crew had just motored out to between the channels and we were about to throw wire over, was sitting reading the seas and your could see a hugh line of breakers rolling over the False Hook.

A small pod of birds began working near the false hook and three boats raced over to them, the birds were working right where the breakers were busting. Two of the three boats finally either saw or deceided that it was not a good idea and backed off.

The third boat a 20' center console with two men a a teenager onboard ran right into the breaker line. They managed to ride out the first 3-4 waves, then a hugh breaker came in and literally picked up the boat like it was a surf board, the boat was riding the crest like a surfer and was a good 10-12' above the normal wave height.

We could not believe it, Capt Mike and Jim, broke out the life vests, ropes and life ring cause we would have bet they were going over.

By the grace of God the boat was pushed over the false hook and pushed clear of the breakers.

I cannot stress enought that you have to read the water conditions and be constantly aware of your surroundings.

This is not the first time I have seen this, and I am sure it will not be the last
