Big Fish! This Big Fish was caught Friday and was Caught on the Deep diving Crank Bait off a deep drop..

There was several other big fish caught this week before the front hit. You will see more big fish caught in the next two month as they get ready for the spawn. We found several groups of fish yesterday .

The weather started out overcast with the wind blowing from the north around 10 to 15 MPH . We caught a few small fish early and then the sun came out . The first thing to come to mind was that's it BLUE BIRD SKYS its time to go home. But we just stayed with it hit few more spots trying to found that group of fish. What do you know we found two groups that was hiding from everyone else. We caught a few of them and then moved on. I can't say it was not tuff because it was but that what I like the most, finding fish under the worst conditions I am just going to hit a few baits here that I us when it get tuff. The Senko and Wacky Worm for slow fishing this time of year . If you just cant work slow then work the Rat-L-Traps over the edge of the grass and work the drains . Working the deep Crank Baits, or Carolina Rigs Lizards on the outer edge and drops may get you the big fish.

One of the most important pieces of equipment on my boat is the Sonar and GPS unit . You need to learn to use them . There is a lot more then just looking at the picture and seeing a few fish symbols . The GPS is super for finding you way around but there is much more to it. I have been teaching my clients how to get the most out of these units. It's is included in the trip . For the guys that have been using the units and have it down, pay attention. I know some of you are new to the mid lake area. There is a lot of timber up here that you need to know how to navigate thru. There are several boat lanes that are not marked that you need to know about.

I have Marked them with my GPS unit and they can be uploaded on most units for a small service fee.

Just one stump hit at high speed will not only ruin your day and cut into your wallet for repairs but may get you hurt . I know I heard the story if you don't see it then its not there , But believe me its still there. I have seen a lot of boats running thru the timber . There are ways around the timber that wont cost you a minute or two to use and could save you a lot. Following the other boat is not the answer . I seen the big boys with the camera crews and I wouldn't run were they do. Then what do I know I just fish this thing over 200 days a year. I guess you can say its my back yard. So be safe out there.

The Crappie have been good around the bridge and brush piles on live bait and jigs .There have been a lot of fish move up the river in the last month. With the heavy rains we will see if them hung tight or they may get spooked and move some.

So if anyone upriver is catching a few fish I would like to hear from you.

You can see the picture on my site under latest Catch

Bio: Come join me for a fun and enjoyable fishing trip on legendary Lake Sam Rayburn. Spend a day in the shadow of an eagle's nest or watch one soar overhead. Fish among flocks of mallards, cormorants, coots, pelicans and other migratory birds that call Rayburn home during the fall & winter. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of 114,000 acres of clear water, bordered by the 'Texas Piney Woods'. Experience trophy bass and crappie action on a lake that is affectionately known as "Big Sam". "Big Sam" is the Grandfather of Texas bass fishing and is referred to by many professional anglers as arguably the best bass fishing in the nation. In 1998, more thirteen (13) plus pound bass were caught on "Big Sam" than on any other lake in the State of Texas.
