Another front moving thru North Florida today hopefully want stick around long or change the progress the fishing has made. By the end of the month the weather should stabilize for good.

There are still plenty of Spanish and Blue fish in the river and the Reds are still a little picky. For me crabs have been the ticket. Stay as far away from them as you can and stick 3 or 4 crabs out and put the rod in the holder and wait. Most of the time it will be worth the wait…

Looking for the big Trout that I usually start catching any time now I fished one of my Big Trout spots with Phil Baker yesterday April 5th. We were throwing plastics for a while with out any luck so I decided to float fish some live shrimp.

The second drift was a 3 pound Trout. That's what I've been waiting for. We went on to catch 11 Trout from 18 inches to 23 inches. The largest fish was right at 5 pounds. My guess would be that before the end of the month the big Trout should be in full swing.

The Flounder gigging should start up by May and go thru the rest of the year. I have several clients that are waiting for that call… And I'm ready also.

Bio: Being a native of Northeast Florida I have enjoyed the excellent fishing and wildlife this area has to offer. I have been fishing the Jacksonville Florida area over 30 years with many a memorable fishing trip starting when I was a kid. We are in between and only minutes away from Amelia Island and St. Augustine, we can enjoy the fishing any direction. From downtown to the mouth of the ocean and all the back water in between.
