Fishing offshore has been great for lots of keeper lanes, lots of red grouper with occasional keepers as close in as 20-23 miles, and for other bottom varieties. Inshore, the black drum have been hitting hard, along with some winter sheepshead.

Drum have been biting on good tides inshore, some as big as 32 inches, which are fun to catch and release. Offshore, the red grouper have moved further out, but we still caught a few within 25 miles of shore.

Seas have been higher than their predictions recently, and we tolerated some choppy conditions a few times over the past couple of weeks,. But catches of grouper and snapper have been good, and a few goliath battles were fun too. Inshore, trips have been a little slow, except for a fun battle with a bonnethead and some decent trout.

Winds and seas have been difficult obstacles recently, but we managed a few calm enough days offshore, as well as several good inshore trips. Snapper and big sheepshead are abundant, with most of the keeper red groupers now well offshore, though we caught a few keepers the beginning of March as close in as 22 miles.

Fishing offshore for red grouper has been great during their closed season, when we have had to release them...let's hope that bite continues now that season is open! And winter sheepshead and nice trout have dominated backwater catches recently.
