Changed the itinerary for today, only because I knew the traffic to the south would be tough to deal with. Headed East in the AM. Stopped on some good bird life, but not reading too much in the way of fish, no matter where we went, knew we were in trouble!! The reports from down South didn't sound good at all, so we kept heading EAST!! Made it to Deb's inlet stopping on scattered life with only a few short fish and a whole bunch of Dogfish...Came back to the channels and caught the change of tide, started out with a couple fish on readings, a few small patches of birds started to work. At 1:45 time to go home, all hell broke loose!! Tom Krako had the largest fish I have seen this season, 30 plus, right to the boat, fish took a final dive, and that was it, hook pulled and that $1,000 big fish pool swam away!!! Great action, ended up with a dozen or so nice keepers and a bunch of happy fishermen. Mike Gasparetti, Lopatcong Twsp. had the pool fish at 16 pounds, his second in a row. Some tough weather coming, but hey, aren't striper guys supposed to be tougher?? Capt.ron
