Chase N' Tails Fishing Charters Fishing Report'

I would like to start off by saying Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to every body.

Well this cold front we got this week really put a dammper on the inshore fishing the water temperature has dropped 10-12 degrees now 58-61 degrees so it made the fish to have lock jaw. When this happens you need to find warmer water so look for springs, cannels, and muddy bottom were the fish will lay in to get warm.I had a charter on wensday and we went into Fillmans Bayou to get that warm water from all those springs in there the bite was still slow but we did manage to get a 27 inch Redfish some nice size Black drum and sheeps head i was hoping to get some trout but that did'nt go so well just a few days ago we were tearing up the trout in there up 26".The best bait was shrimp. As winter goes on the redfish, trout, and other game fish will get use to this colder water and they will feed more just this first cold blast stund them.Fishing should pick up this week since we are getting some warm weather back into the forcast so target the shallow water 1-3 feet for redfish and big trout this time of year start of with a top water lure in the morning then switch to a subsurface lure by the after noon also use live shrimp, cut

mullet, and pinfish.I like to fish for reds on a high out going tide along the shore line free line live shrimp on a 2/0 circle hook or a cut mullet. The trout i would use a popping cork 2-3 feet of 20lb suffix leader a 2/0 circle hook and a live shrimp or a pinfish. When targeting sheepshead and black drum look for rocks, and oyster bars use a 1/0 circle hook or a live bait hook with 15-20lb leader and a shrimp start off by free lining the shrimp to so it look as natural as possible but if you got current put a small split shot about 2 feet above the hook to get down to the bottom. The fishing will get better as winter moves on so get those jackets out and do some fishing with me.

THGHT LINES.
