Blake Nelson

The water temps have been rising the past few weeks. We've seen it go from the mid 40s to the low 60s and the trout and redfish have been getting a lot more active. We have been using a variety of mirrolure swimbaits as well as a few different kind of gulp baits. The areas we are fishing are primarily shallow flats with broken up grass beds. We are finding the majority of our trout hanging out in sandy potholes, waiting to ambush prey. The reds have been pushing up close to the banks on the flats and we're finding a few slot reds up around the mouths of creeks in the back bays. The water clarity has been great and we're starting to see a lot of small bait and schools of mullet show up on the flats...good signs for fisherman.
