I had the pleasure of introducing a few people to Key west fishing this past week. The first day I took Deb/Craig Brachue out early for some morning tarpon fishing and landed 1 around 40# and another around 80#. Once the sun came up we went sight fishing and caught the beginning of the incoming tide out back. They landed 2 nice Permit and 1 Lemon shark. David Stern was my next client, We left Key west around 6am and was hooked up 2 our first Tarpon in about 10 minutes. David fought this 40 pounder for 10 minutes and was released unharmed. We landed another in the 20# class range then went flats fishing. For about 30 minutes we had shots at waves of Bonefish and a few tailing Permit. Unfortunately we came up empty handed. Joe Tokash was next, he landed 2 Tarpon on bait and had 2 more eat his fly. Joe is a new fly fisherman so 2 eats is fantastic, well done Joe. Last of all was Bill and Betty Richter. They went 2 for 4 on Tarpon with 1 over 100# that we landed but frayed through the leader before the picture. Key west flats fishing is producing everything right now and will continue throughout the summer.
