As we enter summer and hot days most fishermen and anglers have slowed on our lakes except for some weekends. Leaving the Lakes and fishing wide open and less traffic.

With the draw down and weed lines receding into shallow water, bait fish as well as bass crappie and etc have moved into deeper pockets. When I say deeper you must remember that our average depths are 4 to 6 ft. If you look hard enough you can find some good pockets and clear water. I look for hard bottom with a close contour of shallow to deep or a slight depression. It helps if there is hydrilla growing a foot or two off the bottom.

Bait by choice is live for a good morning with clients. but throwing a carolina rig with a junebug lizard works for me. as well as a montozuma worm. I also like to crank thru thin hrdrilla.

Either way it is good to be on the water as the fishing is as hot as the weather.
