While on a test run with the new Stand N Fish system that will allow clients to actually stand and sight fish from their kayaks, Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing found really good numbers(32)of smaller Snook in the 22" to 24" range along the mangroves and tidal creeks in southern Tampa Bay as well as Redfish, Sea Trout, and large Snapper. The tide was rising and the fish were laid up in a deeper area that runs through a flat and some magrove islands like a "tidal highway". Freelining live bait including large shrimp and pilchards on light flourocarbon leader #6 circle hooks was they key to success but small jigs were producing too.

As the tide moves through deeper areas like this the fish use the "highways" to move from deeper areas at a low tide to the flats and mangroves on a high tide to forage for food.
