Ok, I have been saying let the water temps get into the 60's and watch out!!!

This morning we were greeted with water temps starting at 61.5 degrees

not great but much better then yesterdays 54 degree water..

I had Bill Jr Bill Sr and Father In law Dan in from NJ for a day of fishing.

The water temps were fine but our next problem was WIND at daybreak.

We had winds out of the SE at 15 to 25 MPH and gust to 35.

One of the great things about the St Johns River is you can always

get out of the wind.We headed north up River around the BlueSprings area

to fish some of the many fallen tree tops along the main River channel.

Things started out a little slow with a couple missed bites at the first stop

and the next couple stops resulted in the same manner missed fish.

(For those that think Shiner fishing is easy Think again}To catch these big

trophy bass from under floating grass is not real easy.Everything must work

perfect.Timing when to set the hook and knowing where that big fish is before

setting the hook is number one priority, then making sure every inch of slack

is taken up before setting the hook is second, third and most important is

SET THE HOOK AS HARD AS POSSIBLE!! After we went through this

routine about 10 times today we finally got it right and fish started coming

in the boat. These guys finished up the day like pros. With 10 minutes

left to fish I hooked Dan up with a 12 inch Wild Shiner and pitched it

under a big mat of Dollar Weed setting in about 9 ft of water. It didn't take long

for this big shiner to shoot out from under the grass mat into the open water

with a big fish on his tail. The chase lasted about 3 or 4 minutes as this

True Florida Trophy Bass was sizing up her prey.It only took her one try

to inhale this big wild shiner and it was game on.Two jumps completely

out of the water had this fishing crew in fits but after a long battle with the

USA CUSTOM CAMO STIX ROD the fight was over and Dan had the fish

of a lifetime in his hand weighing 10 pounds on the Certified Boga Grip.

I can't say enough about these NEW CAMO STIX RODS OFFERED BY

USA CUSTOM RODS AT www.usacustomrods.com.It has taken me years

to find a rod that could meet my demands for catching these Florida Trophy Bass

in heavy cover and this fine company has passed the test.

Our new saying here at Bass Challenger Guide Service Is

ANOTHER TROPHY FISH WHIPPED WITH A CAMO STIX.
