Eddie Bussard

Today was a very special day for both myself and my clients. This is the first

time in many years that my clients have caught the 10th fish over 10 pounds

before the month of May and to think that we are only in the second week

of March really gets me pumped up for the rest of spring. My client Ed Makeover

of Astor FL on the St Johns River and his son in-law Brian of NC joined me

today for a full day shiner trip.Ed told me up front that he was looking for a

big fish only and that is what I really like to hear a client tell me.This lets me

know up front that I can spend the day fishing the areas I know as a guide

not having to worry about getting a lot of bites just big bites and that is just

what we did.Ed got the job done quick as the first fish in the boat was a

beautiful St Johns River Trophy Weighing 10 ,8 pounds. He set the bar high

for the next 7 hrs and we did have the chance at a couple more big fish

and one that broke 25 pound mono in open water. The total fish for the day was

14 all but a couple weighing over 5 pounds.Ed lives on the St Johns River

in Astor Fl and fishes it on a regular basis. It was great to see a good man catch

his first fish over 10 pounds on the water he call's home.

I start a four day artificial trip tomorrow and will be posting a report on the

artificial fishing later this week.
