Sunny days, rainy days, and to top it off a cold front finally advances to our local are. The weather has been phenomenal for us south Florida residents this winter. I guess a few bad weather days should not make us frown.

Snook season is open and the spill ways have opened as well. Snook are thick in canals and local spillways taking live and artificial baits. Snook are very active early morning and during evening taking top water lures with a vengeance. Heavy leader, stiff rod and you will land that lunker snook. Water has been clear look for snook laying up near docks and seawalls, great sight fishing action.

Big gator trout are holding near deep holes and grassy bottom areas. Bass assassin baits in dark colors gets the rod bent. I like to use an 1/8 ounce jig head knock the bottom creating mud puffs for best action. Live baits will also produce fish, average size has ranged from 1 to 5 pounds. Once you locate the trout work area thoroughly they like to school up.

Big jacks are cruising docks and sea walls ambushing any bait in there presence. A top water plug worked with a walk the dog presence, causes for massive explosions. Average size of jacks has been 2 to 25 pounds.

Sheepshead have been abundant near docks pilings and seawalls these fish are not highly sought after but hey put up a great fight on light tackle. Live baits like shrimp or crabs excellent choice but fly anglers can get in on the fun as well. Clousers in light colors provoke sheepshead to eat, typical size 2 to 6 pounds.

Well that is the fishing report for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can't catch them from the couch, so get out there and get hooked up. Tight lines! Capt. Craig korczynski, phlatsinshorefishing.com, 5616444371
