Indian River Trout by Keith Mixon (6/04/2009)
Top water lures such as MirrOLure's (16mr808) Mirromullet with a black back and orange belly have worked well from as early as one hour before sun up to 9:30 am, and again during the last few hours of the day. Also, live bait fish such as mullet or a pinfish under a cork has worked well later in the day until around noon in about four to six feet of water.
Red Hot Fishing by Keith Mixon (5/29/2009)
In the last few days of snook season, my clients have had many opportunities to catch snook in and around Port Canaveral. Many of these fish have measured 24 to 38 inches in length. When fishing the flats, large "gator" trout can not resist a live pigfish, pinfish, or mullet when fished under a popping cork. Many of these large trout have been caught in three to four feet of water during low light conditions.
Snook At the Port by Keith Mixon (5/14/2009)
Around Port Canaveral, snook have been caught on a variety of live and artificial baits near the jetties, docks and the S.R. 401 bridge located at the west end of the port. Live mullet, pinfish, and shrimp have worked well when free lined near these structures at night.

Bright sunny days, and warm temperatures have helped redfish and black drum return to the flats. In the Indian River, north of Titusville, live shrimp have worked well when sight casting to smaller schools of reds.

Port Canaveral Fishing Report by Bob Levine (5/14/2007)
We first stopped on the “ Brevard Reef”, about 10 miles SE of the Port. A few Kingfish were caught there the day before, and I thought it would be a good place to start. We had only 1 strike on the down rigger bait after a while, and the water quality wasn't that great. I decided to go out to Pelican Flats since the bite there had been good lately.

Pompano are here! by Beth Sinclair (2/14/2007)
Before the recent blustery weather conditions, anglers were finding decent numbers of good-sized pompano along beaches from Port Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet. By far the best area has been between Patrick AFB and Indialantic, however, the fish move daily and changes in weather can also cause a move.
Surf Fishing Report for East Central Florida by Fish Brevard by Beth Sinclair (1/19/2007)
Unusually warm weather is being blamed for the lack of pompano along our area beaches. With the coolest weather to date this winter being back in November, and temperatures typically soaring into the mid-80s, pompano just aren't foraging in the surf like they usually would be this time of year.
Season Of The Mullet by Tom Van Horn (9/26/2006)
Yes, the season of the mullet is upon us as schools of silver mullet and other baitfish begin their migration south for the winter. Everywhere you look, schools of bait are pushing up, and hungry predators are sending showers of baitfish skipping across the surface of the Lagoon.
