The Redfish and Sheepshead are biting well in Sarasota and Roberts Bays from Longboat Key down to Siesta Key. The cold water temperatures have slowed the fishing drastically lately but a recent warming trend has helped the bite. Small jigs tipped with shrimp have been the big producers for slot Redfish and large Sheepshead. Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing clients have been targeting docks and seawalls with heavy barnicle build up and adjacent deeper water. Work jigs very slowly as close to the structure as possible for the best bite.

The big Jacks are back in area rivers and hitting everything you can throw at them. We have been targeting them with Rapala XRaps fished quickly around visible schools. The Jacks have been between 15# and 25#.

The cobia should be showing up any day now along area beaches and will provide exciting action for a couple of weeks.
