Clients of Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing are finding great action for Redfish in and around the southern Tampa Bay area. While good action for Reds can be found throughout Tampa Bay and Sarasota Bay right now it is in the southern parts of Tampa Bay where the bite seems to be the best. It is also where anglers are finding the most consistant action for large trout and Snook all in the same areas.
Pot holes during the low tide have been a sure fire way to good catches of nice slot sized Redfish. We have been finding the bigger schools around the mouths of small inlets and bayous that flush out bait on the falling tide. The redfish are stacking up in the holes waiting for bait to be swept out to them.
Large trout are found early in the mornings or late in the afternoon as the sun rises and sets. DOA Shrimp on a Deadly combo and topwaters like the Rapala Skitterwalk are a best bet for some great action.
Big Snook are still abundant in many areas when deep water and tight mangroves combine with flowing water.
