Now that summer is finally upon us Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing is concentrating almost all of its trips along area beaches and passes. The two primary targets are large Tarpon and Snook.
The Tarpon have moved in along the area beaches and the numbers are growing steadily as we head toward June which is statistically peak season for big 'Poons in this area. Early morning and late afternoons are producing the best action by far and the size of the fish has been from 80# up to 150# so far.
Snook are on the beaches and in the passes now and the sight fishing opportunities couldn't be more fantastic. This is the best time of year to catch a true trophy class Snook along the southwest Florida beaches. Clients of Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing have been taking great numbers of Snook along the beaches and inlets using a variety of live and artificial baits as well as fly fishing gear.
Please keep in mind that Snook and Tarpon are strictly catch and release right now and circle hooks provide perfect jaw hook ups for easy release and a lower mortallity rates.
