Inshore:

It has continued to be in the 90's around the Treasure Coast this week. We should start seeing some relief soon as fall approaches and things get milder for us. It certainly will be a welcome relief from this long hot summer! Be aware of afternoon storms that can dampen things for you. Enjoy the great fishing action!

Glass minnows have been filling the river and bringing lots of action for anglers. The turning basin has been active with mackerel, jacks, ladyfish and other hungry fish chasing them. Look for trout around the bait schools on the grass flats. Top water lures or DOA shrimp work well this time of year. The trout bite has picked up lately with the bait schools around. Redfish can be found around docks and mangroves this time of year. Snook season opens in September and you can be sure that anglers will be targeting them! Make sure you check your licenses and snook permit. Watch for the mullet run to begin soon and that will have the area in a feeding frenzy as they will the river. It's a great time of year to enjoy fishing our area.

Work top water lures early or late in the day and switch to shallow running baits, like CAL jerk baits or Mirrolure mirrodine, to get your action during the day. The grass flats are productive this time of year. When fishing around the inlet for mackerel and other species, use small shiny lures for your best results. Don't forget to take the kids and grandkids out for an adventure soon! The next Treasure Coast Caster tournament is coming up soon. If your kids love to fish, contact Cammie Ward for information on a fun and exciting time for the kids. Contact Cammie at 772-201-5773 for more information on how to get your kids or grandkids involved.

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it's an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,

Captain Charlie Conner
