The small Tarpon still continue to thrill anglers fishing with Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing in three of the areas rivers. The average 'poon is still around 15#-30# with the best time to fish being early in the morning or just before dark. I have been rotating areas to keep the fish fresh and it is really working well. The best baits have been MirroLure 52mr, and Cotee Jigs. If they have lockjaw in the morning we have been throwing the biggest Shrimp we can get with great success.

The recent cold weather has finally pushed the Snook way up the coastal rivers and set them up in some real kayak friendly areas. As the day warms we have been targeting Snook along deep bends and fallen trees using Xraps and topwater baits. The size hasn't been monsters but the numbers have been good and improving. I expect to see a lot more bigger fish now that the weather is cooler and will concentrate them.

Big Jacks from 15# and up have been flooding into area rivers chasing baitfish seeking warmer water. These fish while not at the top of every anglers wish list are pound for pound the toughest brutes around and these big fish on lite tackle can test even the best anglers.

Down in the Miami - Ft. Lauderdale area Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing clients are still doing very well on a mixed bag of fish including really good numbers of Peacock Bass, increasing numbers of Largemouth Bass and a still steady bite of Bullseye Snakeheads. The Peacocks have been primarily on shiners while the Largemouth and Snakeheads are falling victim to topwater baits rapidly moved over heavy cover.

Sun Coast Kayak Sport Fishing has also just released its list of upcoming multiple day trips into such areas as the 10,000 Islands, the Florida Keys, Everglades, and the Miami area. Please visit www.fishwithdc.com and click on the Extended Trips page for more information.
