The lake is still holding steady just below 168 msl (167.6); high pool is 172 msl. Surface temperatures have been running in the mid to upper 60s and the water is slightly stained on the very north end of the lake and clearing as you go south (high winds will churn the shallow areas).

Most of the inquiries I receive this time of year are from anglers wanting to know how the Crappie and White bass are hitting. So far, the season has been exceptionally slow with unusually high temperatures. The

bait- fish have been scattered and subsequently the fish have been scattered. It looks like we're getting ready to get a strong northern with some cold temps that should lower the water temp, bunch up the bait-fish and hopefully turn on the Crappie bite.

The White bass have also been scattered and we've had to cover a lot of water to get a good mess of fish. Work the old river channel sand bars with slab spoons and tail spinners.

The Black Bass have been keying on main lake and secondary points and the old river channel shelf and ledges on mid diving crank baits and Texas or Carolina rigged plastics. The points on main lake humps and ridges have also been holding some fish.
