Fishing has been good along Florida's Space Coast reports Captain Keith Mixon(www.mixinworkwithplay.com). During the past week several slot size reds have been willing to bite live pinfish when fished just off the bottom. Many of these fish have been caught near mangrove shorelines along drop offs in three feet of water or less near the eastern shoreline of the Banana River. Circle hooks, fifteen pound test mono leader, and popping corks have been a good combination to bring these fish boat side during the last few hours of the day. In addition, speckled trout have been hitting top water lures during early morning hours near the "No Motor Zone". During calm conditions, trout measuring up to sixteen inches have been hitting Rapala's XRap Walk (clown color) when fished slowly near spoil islands.

Near Port Canaveral, cobia measuring to nearly fifty pounds has been caught along the buoy line as well as along Cocoa Beach south of the pier. Many of these fish have been caught when sight casting to these cobia when seas are three feet or less. Bright colored buck tail jigs have worked exceptionally well when targeting these fish.
