The past week has been some of the best summertime bass fishing

you could ask for on the St Johns River. The schooling fish are hitting

topwater baits early in the morning and later in the day deepwater wood

has been great for bigger fish in the 5 to 8 pound range.

My good friend Gary Clark fished with me for 6 hrs and between the two of us

15 fish made it to the boat and I broke off two very big fish in wood off the main

river channel.Bob and Carolann Armstrong of Chicago were hear for there regular

summertime trip today and caught some very nice fish to six pounds on artificial

baits.Topwater walking baits have been best for the schooling fish in the morning

and a 6 inch Texas rigged Junebug worm has been the best bait later in the day

around deep fallen trees in the main river channel.Bob and his son Jake fished a

fullday trip this week and had a tough day as the schooling fish just wouldn't

stay hooked up after exploding on topwater baits total for the day was 10 fish

with a four pounder being the biggest. This area of the St Johns River is only

minutes from Orlando, Disney World and Daytona Beach.
