It's been a long wait but the St Johns River flood waters are finally dropping

and the Government has opened some areas for boating.Six long weeks

they have had the BASS FISHING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD closed and

it was great to get back on the river today and catch some of the Trophy

Bass this great river has to offer.I fished by myself today as I had planned

on just looking around and seeing what kind of changes the flood waters

have made to the grass beds and other structure on the river. My plan did not

go as planned as the first area I checked had bass leaping high above the water

chasing bait in a grass bed.I pulled out a rod rigged with a white fluke and

started catching fish on the very first cast, after catching 15 fish up to 8 pounds

I ventured to another area and started seeing fish chasing bait in this

area as well. I only got to fish about 15 minutes in this area catching 4 more

fish before I was ran off the river by a big storm. From what I seen today on the

St Johns River we are in for a fall and winter season like we had in 2004 after the

3 hurricanes pass over Central Florida and flooded the river to a near record high.

Take a look at the Bass Challenger Guide Service 2008 Trophy page

for the St Johns River and you will find it hard to believe that I predict the 2009

Trophy page will be much better. The reason I say this is that after the 2004 floods

we had the best fishing you could ever ask for on the St Johns River during the

2004 fall and 2005 winter.A good flooding like we just experienced on the

St Johns River cleans the river bottoms of old debris and mud and makes for

the best spawning areas you could ever have.Sorry I didn't have a picture for this

report but with the rains starting before I launched the boat and getting harder

as the day went on I didn't get the camera out of the water proof bag.

I am booked up until the 5th of Oct and then I have days open so if you are looking

for some great bass fishing with a guide that has 28 YEARS OF GUIDE EXPERIENCE IN CENTRAL FLORIDA Please give me a call.
